Scheduling an Appointment
The PsychoEducational Consultant Group is available to discuss the types of evaluations we complete, such as Gifted testing, evaluations for dyslexia and other learning disabilities, ADHD, or accommodations for college entrance exams. We can be contacted 7-days a week to discuss your child’s needs via phone, e-mail, or contact us here. After consulting with one of our school psychologists, an appointment is scheduled to complete your child’s evaluation. Evaluations can be conducted at our office during the weekday or weekend hours. Evaluations are available by appointment only. We can be reached via phone or e-mail during regular business hours. If we are unavailable at the time of your call, please leave a message. Your call or e-mail will be returned within one business day.
Testimonial
“I recently had the pleasure of meeting Laura Smith from the PsychoEducational Consultant Group. Laura provided an evaluation for my 15-year-old son, Trey. Based on past experiences I was not looking forward to these tests. Trey was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity shortly after birth and has 20/400 vision with glasses. In the past, his disabilities never seemed to be taken into full consideration and a score was typically assigned without factoring in his lack of vision, inability to see details, and extra time needed to complete tasks.
My past experiences proved me wrong. Laura Smith took the time to get to know Trey, made him feel comfortable, and really took into account his disabilities. While some areas of testing still showed low scores, Laura understood which test scores provided the best indication of Trey’s abilities. She provided invaluable suggestions for success including what teaching styles work best for Trey. Laura’s evaluation along with his school counselor’s request has allowed Trey the accommodations needed for College Board testing. Without hesitation, I would recommend the PsychoEducational Consultant Group. Laura and the staff made a typically tiresome process enjoyable and informative! J.T.”
You may want to talk to your child about the upcoming evaluation. It is recommended that you tell your child that you, along with their teacher(s), are concerned and want to help them do their best. The visit to our office is for us to understand how they learn, and to find ways to help them improve. We recommend that you avoid using words like “test” or “testing”. This can put pressure on a child, and may imply that they will either pass or fail. The comprehensive evaluation process explores your child’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. It does not include any components that they can “fail”. In addition, there is nothing for your child to study prior to their evaluation. Children are asked to complete activities in which they answer questions, look at pictures, and solve problems or puzzles. Most children enjoy the evaluation process, and leave feeling good about their performance. Please make sure your child has a good night’s rest the evening before, and has eaten appropriately the day of the evaluation. If your child wears glasses or a hearing aid, they will need to wear them during their evaluation.
A thorough evaluation can be one of the most important investments you make in your child’s education. The fee for your child’s evaluation will vary based on the uniqueness of their case. During the appointment intake process, you will be quoted a rate based on the areas of need discussed. By the end of the evaluation process, you will be provided a comprehensive report with detailed information about your child’s strengths and challenges. In addition, we will provide you with practical suggestions to help your child at home and at school. Results from the evaluation may also assist your child’s pediatrician and/or school system to implement any necessary next steps. An itemized bill for services will be provided during the feedback session.”

Only then are we authorized to communicate with that person or organization regarding your child and their assessment results.
